Bulls lock Fudge Mabeta will miss the entire Super Rugby season after being injured in a car accident during December.
Mabeta faces at least six months out of action after rupturing a knee ligament in the crash.
Bulls team doctor Org Strauss confirmed Mabeta will now face surgery to repair the damage later in the month.
The Bulls have already seen Rossouw de Klerk ruled out for a large part of the Super Rugby season following an operation on his foot, while Morne Mellett is facing six weeks out.
Juandré Kruger, Bjorn Basson , Gerrit-Jan van Velze, Wesley Dunlop, Dewald Potgieter, Francois Venter, Warwick Tecklenburg and Wynand Olivier are also receiving treatment for various knocks but all are expected to be fit for the start of the season.
