Co-captain to remain with Super Rugby leaders until end of 2013
Chiefs have received a boost with the news Craig Clarke has signed a new contract with the Super Rugby table toppers until the end of 2013.
The lock and co-captain, a former Hurricanes and Crusaders player, is in his fourth season with the Hamilton-based franchise.
The 28-year-old says he is enjoying his rugby in his present surroundings and he sees no reason why he should move on.
"I am having too much fun to go anywhere," he told the
Chiefs' official website.
"This is a great environment to work and play in, and one that I am thoroughly enjoying - so why move?"
Delighted
Chiefs coach Dave Rennie is delighted to retain Clarke's services.
"Craig is incredibly hard working with great values, so his re-signing is good news for us and the fans," he said.
"Craig's professionalism, leadership and commitment, continue to make him a great asset to the Chiefs family."
Clarke, who represented New Zealand U19s (2002) and U21s (2004), is also the captain of Taranaki and picked up the Ranfurly Shield with his ITM Cup side last year.
