Cross-code convert finally ends the speculation over his future

Sonny Bill Williams has finally ended all the speculation over his future by agreeing to join Canterbury and the Crusaders. The signature of the cross-code convert had been much sought-after following his decision to turn his back on a multi-million deal at Toulon to return to New Zealand ahead of the 2011 World Cup. However, Williams has now agreed to move to Christchurch to represent Canterbury in the ITM Cup and the Crusaders in the Super 15. The 24-year-old said: "At the end of the day it's about me trying to become an All Black and I felt being down there in that set-up - even though it's for less money - was the right thing to do. "I made my decision to join Canterbury and the Crusaders because that's where I think I will best develop as a rugby player." Williams will join a star-studded line-up at the Crusaders, with the likes of New Zealand captain Richie McCaw and fly-half star Dan Carter. And Carter believes Williams will bring the x-factor to the Crusaders line-up. "He adds to our depth but brings a bit of x-factor," said Carter. "He's a guy that can turn a game on its head with his power and his skills. His off-load abilities are fantastic. I think it'll add another dimension to our game."
