Tim Bateman has returned to New Zealand to sign for the Hurricanes ahead of next year's Super Rugby competition

Centre Tim Bateman has returned to New Zealand to sign for the Hurricanes ahead of next year's Super Rugby competition The 24-year-old, who previously played for the Crusaders, heads to Wellington having enjoyed a spell with Japanese outfit the West Red Sparks. Bateman, who made 35 appearances over a three-year period for the Crusaders, said: "I'm really excited about signing for the Hurricanes. "We've thoroughly enjoyed our time here in Japan, but I've been looking to play at a more competitive level again and moving to the Hurricanes has given me that opportunity. "I've played against the Hurricanes a number of times and I admire the way they play. "I'm looking forward to moving to Wellington and being part of that environment and putting in some good performances for the team next year."
