Harris returns home to NSW

Sam Harris has signed to return to NSW Waratahs after a spell in rugby league.

Wests Tigers rugby league forward Sam Harris has agreed a deal with rugby union's Super 14 franchise New South Wales Waratahs to switch codes next season.

Harris has previously played for the Waratahs in 2001-02 before moving to the 13-man code where he has played for Manly and Wests Tigers in the NRL.

NSW coach Ewen MacKenzie revealed the Waratahs are likely to use Harris as an inside centre.

"We've been looking for a physical presence at inside centre since the departure of Nathan Grey and Sam has all the attributes we need," said MacKenzie.

"He's also got impressive ball skills too, which makes him a good all-round package."

Harris commented: "The hard grind of the NRL has really put me in a much better position physically than when I left the Waratahs.

"I'm back to peak fitness and really looking forward to coming home to the 'Tah's."
