Lock comes into for Caldwell

The Waratahs have moved to replace Will Caldwell by signing former Western Force lock Pat O'Connor on a one-year deal. Caldwell has been granted leave after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease - leaving a spot free on the Waratahs roster. O'Connor was part of the Force squad in their inaugural season before two serious injuries stalled his career. He did return to the Force squad in 2009 but he has been part of the Northland side in the ITM Cup. And the 25-year-old is now hoping a return to Super Rugby will help his international hopes. "I think anyone who makes it to Super Rugby level has aspirations of taking the next step and I haven't lost any of that ambition to one day make the Wallabies," said O'Connor. "The only way to do that is to be playing regular footy at that level and I've now got the chance to do that with NSW. "I came to Northland with a view to playing at a high level and hope for an opportunity to come along, and now that it has I'm determined to make the most of it."
