Former Springbok weighing up a number of new opportunities

Rassie Erasmus has confirmed he is to leave the Stormers after more than four years as the club. Erasmus arrived at the end of 2007 from the Cheetahs and guided the Stormers to a fifth-place finish in his first season in charge. Erasmus went on to take over the reins as director of coaching, with Allister Coetzee stepping up as head coach. Erasmus worked as South Africa's technical advisor at the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand - and had been strongly linked to a role as director of rugby with the Springboks.

However Erasmus, who was capped 36 times, has also attracted interest from clubs in England and France, with the 39-year-old confirming he is now weighing up his next move. "There are a number of new opportunities that have surfaced at a higher level and I am currently considering my options," Erasmus told the club's official site. "Each is an exciting and massive new challenge, and that is a big attraction to me at this stage of my career. "In the interim I have offered to continue to assist at Province whenever required. I have enjoyed my time here in the Cape immensely and feel that I have contributed to facilitating building the structures that have taken us to the brink of success. "I have no doubt that that success is but a tiny step away now and I leave Province satisfied with the strides made."
