No immediate homecoming for fly-half

Saracens fly-half Derick Hougaard has failed to secure a move back to former club the Bulls. Hougaard has held talks with Bulls coach Frans Ludeke and senior professional coach Heyneke Meyer about possibly playing for the club again. However the former South Africa No.10 will not be returning to the Loftus Versfeld - where he played from 2002-08 - in the immediate future with the Bulls believed to have concerns over his fitness. Hougaard, who left the Bulls to move to Leicester before switching to Saracens, is currently sidelined after having a second operation on his Achilles.

World-class

"Unfortunately we cannot currently accommodate Derick in our structure," Meyer, who signed Hougaard for the Tigers, told the Beeld newspaper. "If Derick is fit and injury-free, he will still be a world-class player. "And if the situation changes and circumstances necessitate it, we will gladly call on him." Hougaard has scored 269 points in 34 appearances for Saracens since arriving at Vicarage Road in 2009. However with Charlie Hodgson, Owen Farrell and Sam Stanley - along with Alex Goode - among those vying for the No.10 jersey at Saracens Hougaard faces intense competition to force his way back into the first-team picture.
