Saracens have confirmed promising second rower Maro Itoje has signed a new 'long-term' contract with the club.

The 20-year-old captained England to Junior World Cup success and has already skippered Sarries during their LV= Cup campaign - impressing rugby director Mark McCall's squad during his 20 appearances for the Londoners.

McCall said: "Maro's progress over the last two seasons has been outstanding.

"He has captained Saracens to the A League and LV=Cup titles with great maturity, and he has an incredible desire and hunger to get better as a player.

"What is even more impressive is he has managed to combine his progression as a rugby player alongside his studies, in which he is also excelling.

"He's an incredibly ambitious young man, and we are delighted to announce he will be extending his stay with Saracens."

Itoje was called up to the England Saxons squad in January 2015 and made his debut for England's second string against Ireland Wolfhounds the same month.
