Sale coach to oversee exodus of players

New Sale coach Mike Brewer is set to oversee a cull of players at the Sharks as he looks to turn the club around. Brewer, who was handed the reins following a disappointing 2009-10 campaign, has already brought in the likes of Paul Williams, Mikaele Pessamino, Wame Lewaravu and Karena Wihongi to the club. And with Nic Rouse, James Lewis, Rhys Crane and Danny Gray among those on trial at Edgeley Park, the rebuilding process is far from complete. Brewer, though, is now set to clear the decks after fully assessing his playing options, with the former All Black ready to take action to move people on. "We've come to the stage where we've given the guys affected enough forewarning as regard my intentions and the likelihood of their playing which is next to zero," Brewer told the Stockport Express. "Now we will adopt a much stronger line with it." Brent Cockbain, Luke Abraham, David Doherty and Daffyd James were also released by the Sharks, with Lee Thomas opting to move to France. Oriol Ripol, Dean Schofield and Richard Wigglesworth have also left the club to join Worcester, Toulon and Saracens respectively.
