Sale chief could leave at the end of the season
Sale Sharks director of rugby Kingsley Jones could be set to end his seven-year stint at the club.
Jones previously worked as forwards coach and head coach at Edgeley Park before being promoted to director of rugby in the summer.
However Jones has now been given permission to talk to other clubs about moving on at the end of the season.
Sale have already parted company with coach Mike Brewer, while star fly-half Charlie Hodgson has confirmed he will be leaving in the summer.
And Jones admitted: "I've got a great relationship with the owners at Sale... I have sought and been given permission to explore my options.
"I think for the next six to eight weeks I'm going to have a look at what opportunities are out there if there are any out there, but in this job it's all about timing.
Options
"There's a job there for me at Sale which I'm thankful for but I think maybe it's time for me to look at another challenge and I'm considering that and see what comes out.
"In seven years I've evolved from forwards coach to head coach to director of rugby and maybe it's time [to move on], we'll see."
Jones is unlikely to be short of offers, with Cardiff Blues, the Dragons and Toulon already linked as possible destinations for the former Wales skipper.
"I'm reviewing the situation. I would like to come back to Wales but it seems like options are limited at the regions," Jones told
Wales on Sunday.
"I'm open-minded about coaching in France, staying in England or going to a Magners League club outside of Wales.
