Eight players set for their Series debuts
Australia coach Michael O'Connor has named eight new faces in his squad for the inaugural Gold Coast Sevens.
Jordan Tuapou, Danny Routledge, Con Foley, Pama Fou, Lindsay Crook, Damon Anderson, Sean McMahon and Solomoni Rasolea will all make their debuts for the Wallabies in the opening leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series.
And with the likes of Jesse Parahi, Dan Yakopo and Ed Stubbs ruled out, Australia will rely on the experience of Ed Jenkins, Jacob Taylor, Greg Jeloudev and Lewis Holland during the tournament.
Sydney University forward Jenkins returns to captain the squad, having missed out on the Oceania Sevens.
Australia have been handed a tough-looking draw for their home tournament after being pooled with South Africa, who finished as runners-up to New Zealand in the series last year, USA and Japan.
