France-based star to play after clear-the-air talks

South Africa's Francois Steyn is set to play in next week's Test against Wales in Cardiff after talks in Johannesburg with head coach Peter de Villiers. Steyn, part of the Springboks' World Cup winning squad in 2007, was reported to have pulled out because of a rift with the national team's coach. But he will now add to his 36 caps at the Millennium Stadium after clear-the-air talks, which also included Springbok selector Peter Jooste and Steyn's agent Gerrie Swart. A statement from the South African Rugby Union said: "Frans Steyn has confirmed his availability for the Springboks in their test match against Wales in Cardiff on June 5, following a meeting with Springbok coach Peter de Villiers in Johannesburg on Friday." "We discussed our relationship over the past few months and certain concerns of Frans were addressed and resolved," said De Villiers. "Frans confirmed his loyalty and commitment to the Springboks and people of South Africa and I can't wait to see him back in green and gold." Steyn, who is set to start at full-back against Wales, has not played for his country since moving to France to join Top 14 outfit Racing Metro in September.
