There will be a Tri-Nations flavour at Twickenham on Saturday as South Africa take on a Barbarians side filled with stars from Australia and New Zealand. The Springboks will be looking to end their northern hemisphere tour with another victory after Test wins against Ireland, Wales and England in recent weeks. Although their hopes of a Grand Slam tour were scuppered by a surprise defeat to Scotland, they bounced back with a 21-11 win over England last weekend. Now they return to Twickenham to complete their trip, though coach Peter de Villiers has made a total of 12 changes for the clash with the BaaBaas. Centre Andries Strauss, fly-half Elton Jantjies and prop Coenie Oosthuizen will all make their first appearances for South Africa. As well as that trio, Patrick Lambie, Odwa Ndungane, Adi Jacobs, Willem Alberts, Adriaan Strauss, Alistair Hargreaves and CJ van der Linde are all named in the starting XV for the first time on tour. Bakkies Botha remains in the second row and says that the Springboks are not taking the clash lightly despite the host of changes.Pride
"When I step onto the field, I give it my all. It doesn't matter who I am playing against," the towering lock said. He added: "If I am representing South Africa it means I am prepared to put my body on the line. "I am as proud to play for the Springboks now as I was when I won my first cap all those years ago. A lot has happened since then, but just putting on the jersey puts a smile on my face. "That will be the case against the Barbarians. I will smile but I will also be very serious. That's because I know the Barbarians forwards will be very pumped up to beat us." The Barbarians will be captained by Australia's Matt Giteau, who leads a team containing five fellow Wallabies. The Baa-Baas will boast an explosive back three of James O'Connor, Joe Rokocoko and Ma'a Nonu, with the back division also containing Drew Mitchell, Adam Ashley-Cooper and Will Genia. There is slightly less international firepower in the pack as uncapped duo Colin Bourke of the Chiefs and Anton van Zyl of the Stormers are included at No.8 and lock respectively. The Springboks and Barbarians share the honours with three wins each over their six meetings since 1952, with the Barbarians winning the last contest three years ago.
