Glasgow Warriors have suffered an injury blow after back Peter Horne was ruled out for up to six weeks with a fractured hand.

The 26-year-old Scotland international, who can play at centre or fly-half, was injured during last Friday's 23-19 defeat to the Cardiff Blues at the Arms Park.

He has since undergone X-rays and following a consultation with a specialist it has been confirmed he will be unavailable for selection for up to six weeks.

The Warriors started their Guinness PRO12 campaign with back-to-back victories over Connacht and Leinster, before slipping up against the Blues last week.

They are back in action on Friday when they host unbeaten Ulster at Scotstoun in a game which will see the return from injury of Scotland fly-half Finn Russell.

Russell, who has not featured for Glasgow since last season's play-off defeat to Connacht in Galway, will wear the No 10 shirt on his 24th birthday.

Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend said: "Ulster are a quality team and have recruited very well this season. We know it'll be a tough test but it's a game we're all really looking forward to.

"It's a boost to have Finn Russell back from injury. He's been really positive since his return to training and played well for Ayr in the Premiership last weekend."
