London Scottish snap up Scotland A full-back

London Scottish have secured a massive coup with the signing of Scotland A international Jim Thompson from Edinburgh. The 27-year-old full-back, the grandson of Bill McLaren, scored a try in Edinburgh's Heineken Cup semi-final against Ulster - and has been a key figure at the Murrayfield club over recent years. However Thompson, who is currently playing for the Scotland Sevens side, will now follow his uncle Alan Lawson and cousin Gregor Lawson in representing the Exiles. Thompson said: "It's a great honour to be joining London Scottish. The club is on the up and going places, and I'm looking forward to being part of a successful season." Thompson joins Edinburgh team-mate Phil Godman - as well as fellow Scots Dave McCall, Colin Quigley and Paul Spivey - in signing for the club. And director of rugby Simon Amor is delighted with the new addition. "Jim is a quality player who can play in a number of positions in the backline," he said. "His experience will bring a great attacking threat to our backline."
