Connacht have signed former Australia U20 fly-half Andrew Deegan from the Waratahs as a replacement for Marnitz Boshoff.

The Irish province announced on Wednesday that they had released Boschoff early from his contract on compassionate grounds, and they have moved swiftly in securing the signing of Deegan.

The 22-year-old, who has represented Australia at U20 and Schoolboys level, scored 194 points for Randwick last season and helped the NSW Country Eagles reach the National Rugby Championship finals.

"I am really excited to get the opportunity to join Connacht and have only heard great things about the club, the community, and how supportive the fans are," said Deegan.

"I am delighted to become a part of that and I hope I can add to the success Connacht have enjoyed in recent times".

Connacht assistant coach Nigel Carolan added: "Andrew is a very highly-rated young player who has already gained a lot of experience in Australia.
