Ulster are reported to be ready to part company with head coach Brian McLaughlin at the end of the campaign.

Irish outfit pondering parting of the ways with McLaughlin

Ulster are reportedly ready to part company with head coach Brian McLaughlin at the end of the campaign. McLaughlin is in his third season with Ulster and has enjoyed a successful time at Ravenhill having led the Irish outfit to the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup for the last two years. Their appearance last season was their first in the knock-out stages of the European tournament for some twelve years. However, the Ulster directors are believed to want a fresh face at the helm next term and former Japan coach John Kirwan and ex-Ulster hooker Matt Sexton have been mentioned in connection with the post. The speculation has prompted a statement from Ulster, but the club failed to clear up the uncertainty surrounding the future of McLaughlin. "In response to media speculation today regarding the Ulster Rugby Head Coaching position, Ulster Rugby confirms that the current coaching contracts are set to finish at the end of the season, and are under review. There will be no further comment at this time," the statement read.
