The Scarlets are facing a fight to keep hold of Nigel Davies - with the Welshman in the frame for the coaching role at Gloucester.
Gloucester in the hunt for former Wales caretaker boss
The Scarlets are facing a fight to keep hold of highly-rated coach Nigel Davies after the Welshman emerged as one of the main contenders for the vacant position at Gloucester.
Davies took over the reins at the Llanelli-based outfit in 2008 following the departure of Phil Davies.
Since then, the 47-year-old has helped bring on a number of leading players for club and country - including Rhys Priestland, George North, Scott Williams, Aaron Shingler and Jonathan Davies.
The former Wales centre is now in line to follow England No.8 Ben Morgan in making the switch to Gloucester.
The Kingsholm club initially had a 12-man shortlist to replace Bryan Redpath - who left the club before the final game of the season - but that has subsequently been whittled down to two.
And Davies, who served as caretaker-coach for the Wales team in 2007, is believed to have seriously impressed the Gloucester board.
