Newport Gwent Dragons have signed Cardiff Blues prop Sam Hobbs on a two-year deal.

The 27-year-old will move to Rodney Parade in the summer ahead of next season.

Brecon-born Hobbs, capped by Wales at U19 and U20 level, has made over 100 appearances for the Blues since making his debut in 2009.

"I am really looking forward to the new challenge ahead at Newport Gwent Dragons," Hobbs told club's website.

"There are good people, good coaches and a strong squad along there with some great training facilities and a fantastic support base."

Dragons director of rugby Lyn Jones said he had been a long-time admirer of Hobbs.

"When we were made aware of his availability, we had no hesitation in making him an offer to stay in Wales, beating off offers from England," Jones said.
