Wales international Robin Sowden-Taylor has announced his retirement from rugby.

Wales flanker to pursue 'different opportunities'

Wales flanker Robin Sowden-Taylor has opted to retire from the game to explore "different opportunities". The 28-year-old, who has been capped eight times, only moved to the Dragons in the summer from the Cardiff Blues. However Sowden-Taylor, part of the Grand Slam-winning squad in 2005, has now decided to call time on his professional career. Sowden-Taylor said: "After considerable deliberation, I have decided that the time has come for me to pursue and develop new avenues for the next stage of my life. "I have been a professional rugby player for more than 10 years. I am proud of that, and I have achieved my life-long ambition of playing for Wales. "Rugby has given me so much pleasure and there have been many incredible highs in my rugby career, such as playing for Wales against South Africa in front of a packed Millennium Stadium. "I was also proud to be captain of the Cardiff Blues in their final game at Cardiff Arms Park. I would like to thank the Dragons for allowing me to pursue other career paths."
