Gunners coach frustrated by fifth defeat in six cup games

Edinburgh coach Rob Moffat admitted his side's 21-14 defeat to Cardiff reflected their Heineken Cup campaign. Moffat was disappointed to see his side fail to capitalise on scoring the only try of the dead Pool One contest through centre Ben Cairns. Fly-half Chris Paterson kicked nine points with the boot to put the Gunners 14-9 up and they looked set to end another disappointing European campaign with a victory. But poor discipline allowed Wales wing Leigh Halfpenny to kick four further penalties as the visitors left with the points. "I thought we defended well for long stages but we gave way some cheap points," said Moffat. "I thought we put a lot into the game and I couldn't fault the effort. "At 14-9 I thought we were on top and thought it would come down to the next score. "I'm a bit frustrated because I thought we worked hard for 55-60 minutes but we didn't kick on and win the game." Reflecting on Edinburgh's campaign as a whole, Moffat admitted that his side had simply not been consistent enough. "Europe is a fantastic competition but you have got to be right at the top of your game. We've played well in patches but that's not enough," he added.
