Ospreys have signed Wales international centre Cory Allen as a replacement for the departing Josh Matavesi.

Allen, 24, will join Ospreys on a two-year deal from Cardiff Blues for the start of the 2017-18 season.

Ospreys recently confirmed new contracts for Sam Davies, Justin Tipuric, Dan Baker and Dan Lydiate - while James Hook will also arrive from Gloucester in time for the start of next season.

Ospreys head coach Steve Tandy expects Allen to push on with his career at the Liberty Stadium after falling out of favour with Wales.

"Cory is someone I've always admired as a player," said Tandy.

"I like the way he plays the game, he's physical and his post-contact work is excellent, how he can offload the ball. I think he can thrive in our environment and really kick-on with his career.

"We've got some variety in the centre position, and we are starting to build some real strength in depth in that position, but Cory will offer something different to our other options."
