Wales hooker could have played his last game for the Ospreys
The Ospreys have confirmed Huw Bennett is set to miss the rest of the season after the Wales hooker was told he needed surgery on his Achilles tendon.
Bennett has been sidelined since suffering the injury the RBS Six Nations victory over Scotland at the Millennium Stadium.
And the 28-year-old, who will join Top 14 side in the summer, could have played his last game for the Ospreys - with an operation likely to rule him out of action until June.
Ospreys head physio Chris Towers said: "Despite undergoing a period of intense rehabilitation work Huw has failed to recover from the Achilles injury he picked up in the Scotland game, and as such, the best course of action for him is to undergo surgery.
"He will be treated this week, before commencing his post-op rehab programme with the Ospreys. At this stage we are looking at an eight to 12-week period for Huw to complete his rehabilitation following the operation. We will be working in close conjunction with the WRU medical team throughout."
