France fly-half named Top 14 Player Of The Year

France fly-half Francois Trinh-Duc was named Top 14 Player Of The Year on Monday. The 25-year-old was instrumental in Montpellier's extraordinary progess to the Top 14 final - their first ever French championship final - last season where they lost to Toulouse. Trinh-Duc succeeds Morgan Parra in receiving the honour from his fellow professionals in the French game. Two foreigners - former All Black great Byron Kelleher and Fijian wing Napolioni Nalaga - had won the previous two years. Trinh-Duc, who also made his presence felt after replacing the injured Parra in France's World Cup final loss to the All Blacks, was not the only Montpellier award winner of the night. Former France captain Fabien Galthie, Eric Bechu and Didier Bes won the Coaching Team Of The Year award for the club. Meanwhile, Toulouse scrum-half/fly-half Jean-Marc Doussain, who won his first cap when he came on during the World Cup final, was named Discovery Of The Year.
