South African drops down a division in a bid for more game time
South African fly-half Conrad Barnard has agreed to join Pro D2 outfit Agen following his release by Toulon.
The 30-year-old had become frustrated at the lack of game time at Toulon following the arrivals of England international Jonny Wilkinson and Argentinean Felipe Contepomi - with fellow No.10 Sebastien Fauque also quitting for the same reason.
Barnard will now compete with Romain Sola and Francois Gelez for the fly-half jersey at Agen, who currently sit top of the French second division.
The former Sharks and Cheetahs back replaces Australian Scott Daruda in the Agen squad.
