Former All Black could be forced to retire
Bayonne back-rower Sione Lauaki's career appears to be in doubt due to on-going kidney and heart problems.
The issues were detected by a routine medical assessment with Bayonne at the end of January - with the former All Black having already been ruled out for the rest of the current campaign.
And Lauaki, who has been undergoing treatment since February, could now be forced to retire due to the risks involved in continuing to play.
Lauaki, who was capped 17 times by the All Blacks, initially moved to France in 2010 - joining Clermont from the Chiefs.
After just one season at the Auvergne he made the switch to Bayonne on a three-year deal.
