Seven players handed new deals by Carnegie

A number of home-grown stars have agreed new deals to remain at Leeds Carnegie. Richard Beck, who made 25 appearances in the Championship for Carnegie, and 20-year-old centre Joe Barker have both signed a new two-year contracts. Scrum-half Craig Hampson, prop Mark Tampin and hookers Scott Freer and Harry Hannan have all put pen to paper on 12-month extensions. The up-and-coming players have all come through the academy set-up at Headingley - and they have been joined in committing by prop Mo Mustafa, who made 14 appearances after initially joining on a short-term deal last season. Head coach Diccon Edwards said: "It was important for us to secure our best young talent for next season before we began our recruitment process for next season. "Richard, Scott, Craig, Joe and Mo will have gained significantly from the amount of game time they have had this season whilst Harry has worked hard to recover from injury in mid-season after impressing at both hooker and in the back row and Mark is a developing young prop. "Having already announced new deals for Chris Walker and Jacob Rowan is particularly pleasing to have agreed new contracts with these seven players."
