Experienced winger joins Championship new boys
Former England Sevens international Richard Haughton has agreed to join RFU Championship new-boys Jersey.
The 31-year-old has previously had spells at Saracens and Wasps, scoring 52 tries on 229 appearances.
However Haughton, who played in 31 tournaments on the HSBC Sevens World Series and won a Commonwealth Games silver in 2006, will now team up with the Islanders following his exit from Wasps at the end of last season.
"Richard has played rugby at a high level, and he impressed me with his enthusiasm for joining Jersey for an exciting first season of Championship rugby," Jersey director of rugby Ben Harvey told the club's official site.
"Although he has connections here through his wife's family, this was first and foremost a rugby decision for Richard, enabling him to take the next step in his career.
"As well as playing a full part on the field, I also anticipate that he will be able to pass on his experience from Premiership, Heineken Cup and international rugby to the younger, less-experienced members of the squad."
