Winger promises a new and improved England display

Mathew Turner insists England are determined to right the wrongs from a disappointing Gold Coast Sevens. The opening leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series didn't go to plan for England as successive defeats to Wales, New Zealand and Samoa left them trophy-less. However the England squad have arrived in Dubai confident they can iron out any problems ahead of their title defence, which gets started on Friday. "It's great to be back and to get back on the park and to get right what we got wrong last week," said Turner, who scored a try in the 29-21 victory over Samoa in the 2010 final in Dubai. "It's just tiny, tiny things in that we deviated from our game plan a little bit and that gave other teams opportunities to take advantage of. "This week we're going to work really hard at those small things because they make up the bigger picture and I think you're going to see a very different England team this week." England have added Christian Lewis-Pratt and Simon Hunt to their initial squad ahead of the second event of the Series.

Smashed

And although the duo still have to earn their places in the final 12-man squad, Turner is backing them to have a big impact on. "Simon always manages to score the winning tries as he did last year here against Fiji and he came on and scored with his first touch in the final, smashed his way through two big Samoan boys and went over," he said. "He's just a great finisher and if he gets the ball with the line in front of him he will finish it. "Christian's one of the new boys signed up this year and in the [summer FIRA] European series he was just unbelievable. "He's very calm and relaxed on the ball, he's our first-choice kicker, he mainly plays at 10 and he's just such an easy guy to be around and play off."
