England skipper pleased with positive response

England skipper Greg Barden has praised his side's "determination" as they bounced back from defeat to reach South Africa Sevens quarter-final. The Dubai champions had looked tired on day one in Port Elizabeth, with the HSBC Sevens World Series being held on the third successive weekend for the first time. Having stuttered to a 17-5 victory over the USA, England same unstuck as they lost 24-14 to Samoa. However England regrouped well, with tries from Dan Norton (2) and Simon Hunt seeing them to a 19-0 win over Argentina - and to second in the pool. England will now face Series leaders Fiji, who they beat in the Dubai semi-finals, in the last eight (11.28am kick-off). "Against Samoa we failed at some of our basics and we were disappointed coming off the pitch," said Barden. "We knew Argentina would be up for the last game but we showed determination and now we can reset and get ready for another hard game in the quarter-final."
