Mark Cueto was among the tryscorers as Sale saw off London Irish 29-3.

Sale 29-3 London Irish

Guinness Premiership, Edgeley Park, Friday September 16, KO 8pm

Sale ran in four tries without reply as they recorded their second win of the season against a lacklustre London Irish.

Jason Robinson scored a superb early try for the Sharks, while Mark Cueto set a new league record late on when he went over for his seventh try in successive games.

Daniel Larrechea and Sebastien Bruno also crossed for the home side who did enough to collect the points without over-impressing.

Charlie Hodgson added 10 further points with the boot to make the scoreline appear more comprehensive, but the Exiles offered little resistance.

The first try came after only five minutes and was wonderfully crafted by the home side.

Delon Armitage's huge kick was collected by Larrechea, who lifted a deft chip over the Irish defence which he caught on the full before passing inside to Valentin Courrent.

Courrent in turn fed the supporting Robinson who dived in under the posts for his first try since January. Hodgson converted easily for 7-0.

Irish went on to enjoy a good spell of pressure which produced a penalty from Barry Everitt, but Hodgson cancelled it out just before the break.

The second half was one-way traffic. Chabal was hauled down just short of the line when he looked certain to score, but Larrechea fared better when he was sent in by Elvis Sevealai'i.

Hodgson was unable to convert this time, but Chabal made the game safe when he intercepted a pass from Ben Willis and raced in under the posts.

The conversion from Hodgson extended the Sharks' advantage before Cueto cut loose five minutes from time and once again the England flyhalf added the extras.
