James Simpson-Daniel believes that he will be fit for the visit of Northampton on Saturday.

The highly-rated England international has so far missed the opening three matches of the Guinness Premiership season, due to an ankle injury picked up during pre-season.

However, the Gloucester winger revealed that the problem has now cleared up, and he will play if selected by coach Dean Ryan.

"I am pretty sure I should be fit for this weekend against Northampton," confirmed Simpson-Daniel to the club website.

"Whether I am selected or not is another matter, but I hope to be fit. It has been pretty sore but it is getting better all the time.

"I had a really good running session last week. I will rest up and take things from there this week."

The 23-year-old is likely to start on the replacements bench at Kingsholm, after his teammates secured a magnificent 41-9 victory over Bristol in their last outing.
