Cup success sweet for Williams
Andy Williams admitted that his touchdown against the Ospreys was a sweet moment.
Try-scoring scrum half Andy Williams admitted that his touchdown against the Ospreys tasted so much sweeter because it was against his former club.
Williams left the Welsh club to join Bath after he struggled to nail down a regular starting birth, but he came back to haunt his old teammates on Sunday.
The scrum half's second-half try sent Bath to a 27-20 Powergen Cup victory, meaning that coach John Connolly's men are one win away from the semi-finals.
"It was tremendous to come back here and get a score," beamed Williams.
"The try was the icing on the cake, something that gave me special satisfaction.
"I had a really enjoyable time at the Ospreys, but I'm a Bath player now and it was great to get the win."
Ospreys coach Lyn Jones refused to get downhearted over his side's exit from the tournament, insisting that individual mistakes are the only things standing in the way of success for his troops.
"We are improving. At times we played some really good rugby against Bath, but we also made a number of silly errors," stated Jones.
"Bath were efficient. They had a good lineout and a fine kicking game. Unfortunately for us, we failed to take our chances."
