White banned for eight weeks
Leicester prop Julian White has been banned by an RFU disciplinary committee.
Leicester Tigers prop Julian White has been banned for eight weeks after pleading guilty to punching Newcastle's Andy Perry. An RFU disciplinary committee decided to ban White until December 12 - meaning he will miss Leicester's first three Heineken Cup fixtures as well as four Guinness Premiership appointments.
White was suspended by Leicester with immediate effect following his dismissal during the 16-16 draw with Newcastle and his suspension has been back-dated to Friday October 14 as a result.
White has 24 hours in which to lodge an appeal, but that would appear unlikely given his poor disciplinary history.
Perry, who was also sent off, was given a four-week ban by the three-man RFU disciplinary panel.
The suspension of White is a further blow to Leicester who are already without prop Graham Rowntree due to a neck injury.
The severity of Rowntree's injury is not yet clear and he could be out for anything between six weeks and six months.
