Lewsey: "It's time to deliver"
Josh Lewsey has told his England teammates that now is the time to step up their game.
Josh Lewsey has followed Matt Dawson's lead in getting serious about the weekend encounter with Australia, and the flying full back roared: 'It's time to deliver.'
Lewsey was speaking at the launch of his giant statue - being erected at Twickenham as part of a promotion.
The Wasps man is an unarguable world class performer, but he warned that now is the time for all of the 22-man England squad to lift their game.
"Everyone is under a lot of pressure, everyone expects England to win - let's face it these are home internationals," said Lewsey.
"We are England. We expect and aim to be the best team in the world and if we're to do that we have got to win our home games.
"We've had enough talking, now it's about how we deliver at the weekend."
Lewsey has been given the nod at full back ahead of Mark van Gisbergen, as coach Andy Robinson looks to introduce a new free-flowing rhythm to the England attack.
And the World Cup winner of 2003, who equalled the record for number of tries (5) in a World Cup fixture, is ready to build towards another glorious campaign in two years' time.
"It's not just can we win; hopefully the weather will allow us to produce a pattern of play that allows us to look forward to the next World Cup because that's what is going to be at the back of our minds."
