Ellis suffers 'significant' injury

Leicester and England man Harry Ellis must wait to find out the extent of his knee injury.

England scrum half Harry Ellis faces a lay-off after injuring his knee during Leicester's 17-15 Heineken Cup win over the Ospreys.

Ellis limped off in the first half after being caught by a kick from Ospreys lock Ian Evans and it is not yet known if he will be fit for the start of England's RBS 6 Nations campaign on February 4.

Leicester coach Pat Howard described his young star's injury as 'significant' although the extent of any damage will not be known until he undergoes a scan.

Howard was not keen to comment on the Ellis incident or the game's other controversial moment when Ospreys centre Gavin Henson appeared to elbow and kick visiting prop Alex Moreno, preferring to leave it in the hands of the citing commissioner.

"I will wait until I see the video," said Howard.

"The citing commissioner has got to make his decisions, and I will live with that.

"Harry looks as though he has copped a significant injury, and the injury is the only thing we can control.

"I think it is unlikely he will be available for a while. We would expect to know more in the next 24-48 hours, but hopefully the scans will not show too much damage."

Ospreys coach Lyn Jones was left to rue some wayward place kicking after a last minute try from Tigers substitute Dan Hiskiss cost them a game they had largely dominated.

"We missed 20 points from the boot today, and Leicester have always had an ability to score from 100 yards, which they proved at the end," said Jones.

"You can only imagine our sense of devastation - it is difficult to stomach at present. We looked the better side for about 83-and-a-half minutes of the game."
