Tigers overlook brawlers
Leicester Tigers will take no further action against Lewis Moody and Alesana Tuilagi.
Leicester Tigers have announced that they will take no further action against shamed duo Lewis Moody and Alesana Tuilagi.
The pair were involved in a full-scale brawl as tempers flared in England's match with Samoa, resulting in a red card for both players.
As punishment, the IRB handed nine and six week bans to Moody and Tuilagi respectively, for what was a shocking moment between two club teammates.
Onlookers have been waiting to see if Leicester take further action, but Tigers' head of rugby operations Simon Cohen revealed that the matter had run its course.
"We were considering whether or not to hold an internal disciplinary hearing with the two players, but it has been decided that this is no longer necessary and we look forward to seeing them back playing in the new year," said Cohen.
England flanker Moody and Samoa wing Tuilagi have both made significant donations to the Matt Hampson Trust fund, set up to help the 21-year-old prop who suffered a serious neck injury, and club officials are satisfied that such a gesture proves the two players' repentance.
"Both Lewis and Alesana have shown genuine remorse for their actions and have offered to make these donations to help support Matt."
