Team doctor Thierry Hermerel said: "Fabien has been struck down by a severe gastro-enteritis.
"He has been sick all night and will be confined to bed all day."
Fellow second row Jerome Thion is also doubtful after missing training with a calf problem.
Two other members of the 30-man squad, Pascal Pape (ankle) and reserve fly-half Benjamin Boyet (thigh), also sat out the session.
France will name their team on Wednesday.
