Corry: Tigers are desperate
Martin Corry has admitted he is desperate to end Leicester's wait for some silverware.
Martin Corry has underlined the importance of Leicester's Heineken Cup quarter-final tie with Bath, admitting the Tigers are 'desperate' to win something this season.
An era of domination from the Welford Road outfit, which saw them win four Premiership titles and two European Cups in a glorious spell leading up to 2002, has since been followed by a four-year dry spell.
The legacy of their triumphant past is beginning to weigh heavily on the current crop, and captain Corry confesses nobody is more expectant than the players themselves.
"We pride ourselves on winning trophies and we are desperate to get something," said the British and Irish Lion.
"This cup is the ultimate, and we are determined to do well in it. Along with the league, this is how we judge ourselves."
England colleague Lewis Moody is equally anxious to add to his trophy haul, having played alongside Corry in the glorious World Cup triumph of 2003.
Leicester will need to overcome Bath for the second time in a week if they are to keep their dreams of European silverware alive, and Moody is expecting a backlash after the Tigers' 19-12 victory at the Rec.
"It will take a monumental effort for us to beat them," said Moody.
"It's going to be a fired-up Bath trying to prove a point. They are coming here as underdogs and last week's game would have been a kick up the backside for them.
"This game is a one-off like last year's Premiership final. We thrashed Wasps in the league, lost to them in the next game and ended up with nothing. This is the same situation. The winners go through and the losers miss out.
"Bath and Brian Ashton will be pulling out all the stops."
