Faure blow for Sale

Sale's Lionel Faure suffered a suspected broken leg in the Cup win over Newcastle.

Sale expect to be without Lionel Faure for a prolonged spell after he sustained a suspected broken leg during their EDF Cup win over Newcastle.

The French prop suffered the injury in a heavy challenge shortly before half time and was taken from the pitch on a stretcher.

He was rushed straight to hospital where the Sharks expect the break to be confirmed.

"It's a serious blow for Lionel and for the team," admitted director of rugby Philippe Saint-Andre.

"It was a bad injury and we think he's broken a bone in his leg. He's gone straight to hospital and we'll await the results of the tests.

"It's very disappointing because Jon Bryant also picked up a calf injury and could be out for a while."

Sale were comfortable winners at Edgeley Park thanks to two tries from Oriol Ripol and a third from Chris Jones.
