Grayson furious at Myring injury

Paul Grayson was left fuming after Saints centre Luke Myring suffered a 'serious head injury'.

An irate Northampton coach Paul Grayson is set to watch the video of his side's 34-19 against Harlequins before deciding whether to persue further action for the "serious head injury" suffered by Luke Myring.

The Saints centre was carried from the field on a stretcher and with his neck in a brace - and Grayson was adament that Harlequins' forward Chris Hala'Ufia was to blame.

He said: "My immediate reaction is how the hell does someone poleaxe like that in the middle of the field after the ball's gone.

"It looked to be a head-high tackle as the ball was being moved. I will hold my hand up if I'm proved wrong but we need to go and look at it and see.

"If it was the replacement No 8 (Hala'Ufia), he's had three goes at it. We need to look at it. Taken off to hospital in a neck-brace isn't good is it?

"Players who go out and shoot high and don't use the shoulder or wrap with arms, it's dangerous and should not be part of the game. It shouldn't be allowed to happen."

The matter is likely to be reviewed by the citing commissioner - however, Quins coach Dean Richards instead chose to praise the performances of Adrian Jarvis, who scored 19 points, and Jordan Turner-Hall.

And with Andrew Mehrtens, Hal Luscombe and Stuart Abbott all vying for spots in the back line, Richards said: "It's a genuine selection issue for us. For an 18-year-old lad Jordan has a lot to look forward to while Adrian put in another first-class performance."
