McAlister eyes New Zealand exit

All Black centre Luke McAlister is considering a move to Sale after the World Cup.

New Zealand international centre Luke McAlister is contemplating a move to Guinness Premiership club Sale Sharks after the World Cup.

McAlister, 23, denied he has already signed a contract with Sale, but did admit to being tempted by a move to England.

"I suppose you could say I'm keen," he told the AFP on Tuesday. "Let's just say I don't want to play in New Zealand the rest of my life.

"I don't want to go overseas when I'm 30, I'd rather go when I'm younger and experience the world and experience different lifestyles.

"You only get one shot at it and I want to make the most of my rugby career and do things."

McAlister will not make a firm decision about his future until the end of July, however, Sale is his preferred option should he decide to move overseas.

"I just think Sale is more appealing," said McAlister, who grew up in the north of England while his father played rugby league for Oldham.

"The language obviously was a big thing, the fact I've been to Manchester before I guess helps. They've got a good side there and some good players."

McAlister is currently with the All Blacks squad preparing for Saturday's Tri-Nations fixture against South Africa in Christchurch.
