London Welsh have appointed former Wales international Rowland Phillips as defence coach.
The 49-year-old will join the Exiles' existing coaching staff of Justin Burnell, Ollie Smith and Matthew Ferguson.
Phillips takes up his new role with immediate effect ahead of next weekend's LV= Cup game against Gloucester.
Welsh are currently bottom of the Aviva Premiership after losing their first six league matches, conceding 272 points.
"After the first six rounds of the Aviva Premiership what was glaringly obvious was our need to address our defensive issues, and we've taken steps to do that with the appointment of Rowland as defence coach," said Burnell.
"Rowland has a huge amount of experience and understanding of the defensive role."
