Three-year contract extension for young prop
Former England Under 21 prop Jason Hobson has agreed a three-year extension to his Bristol contract.
Hobson, who was one of the stars of the 17-0 victory over Stade Francais on Sunday, joined the club from Exeter Chiefs in 2003 - however he will now remain at the Memorial Ground until 2011.
At just 24 - and with knee and shoulder injuries behind him - Bristol believe Hobson has a bright future in the game.
Head coach Richard Hill told the club's official site: "I'm very pleased. Jason has been unlucky with injuries in his time here but hopefully seems to have put that behind him. We've stuck with him through those difficult times and I think he acknowledges that.
"I feel that we're now starting to see him realise the potential that we've always known he had. All he needed was a decent run of games and the results are starting to come.
Best
"He's still a young man and still not at an age when props traditionally come into their own so we hope to see the very best of Jason Hobson in a Bristol shirt in the years to come."
Having learnt his trade in the lower league, Hobson is refusing to take life in the top-flight for granted.
He said: "There were times when the Guinness Premiership and Heineken Cup seemed a long way away especially when I was making my way up and down the M5 to play at Exeter and Birmingham.
"It does open your eyes a little and makes you realise that you have to put in the hard work and knuckle down if you're to get the rewards. And, of course, I'm grateful to the Bristol medical team who put in the hours to get me fit again.
"But, I'm still young and they say that props can go on forever so I'm delighted to commit my future to Bristol. Bristol is my club and my home now. They've stayed loyal to me and I had no hesitation when it came to agreeing a new contract.
"The club is so far removed from the one I first joined back in Division One. We've come so far, there are exciting times ahead and I'm delighted to have the chance to be part of it.
