Premiership's oldest player to hang up his boots
Bristol's former Wales second row Gareth Llewellyn has confirmed he will retire at the end of the season.
The lock, who will be 39 next month and is the oldest player in the Guinness Premiership, is preparing to move into coaching when his playing days are over.
He said: "I think the time has come for me to move on. I am at that stage of my life.
"I didn't expect to be at Bristol for three years. Whether I want to stay on or not, I don't think Bristol want me for another year.
"There comes a time when you have to move on. This is my time. I'm now planning to move into coaching somewhere."
Llewellyn made his debut for Wales in 1989 against the All Blacks, going on to become Wales' most-capped player with 92 appearances before Gareth Thomas surpassed that achievement last year.
He has made 52 appearances for Bristol, but his chances have been limited this season and he played only four times.
