Coach backing Paterson to lift his side against Wales

Frank Hadden is adamant Scotland can step up against Wales with Chris Paterson back in their arsenal. The Gloucester back had a perfect record with the boot at the World Cup, but was dropped for Scotland's RBS Six Nations opener against France on Saturday. He came off the bench to play the last 20 minutes of the 27-6 defeat and that performance has convinced coach Hadden to stick Paterson straight back in the team. Kenny Brown has also been recalled to the first XV and Hadden is convinced his team can bounce back to winning ways.

Conviction

"Chris is an iconic figure in Scottish rugby and he deserves to be. He's contributed so much over the years that we had absolutely no hesitation in selecting him when Rory Lamont went down," Hadden told Sky Sports News. "He did well off the bench despite the fact he's not had much game time this year. He's an experienced man and we're just absolutely delighted to have him back in the squad. "Obviously we know we need to play better than we did last weekend it just wasn't good enough for a home match at Murrayfield. "We've made a couple of changes this week, but the most important thing is that the players have got familiar with each other again. "Our preparations this week have gone better than they did last week and we're expecting this side to show what it's made of down in the Millennium Stadium." Paterson is set to win his 83rd international cap against England's Twickenham conquerors on Saturday.
