Italy scrum-half takes positives from England defeat
Italian scrum-half Simon Picone has described his try against England as the "most beautiful thing" to happen in his career.
Picone came off the bench in Rome on Sunday to score in the 76th-minute and set up a thrilling finale.
And although England somehow hung on for a 23-19 victory, Picone was still delighted to have scored - with his try coming after he had charged down Danny Cipriani's kick.
Picone said: "I didn't go to Danny Cipriani to say thank you, it didn't seem right," Picone said.
"This try has been the most beautiful thing that could have happened in my career.
"It's the most significant after making my debut with Italy four years ago against Ireland."
Crucial
Picone's international career had been on hold since 2006 after a serious shoulder injury ruled him out of the Six Nations and World Cup.
And although the 35-year-old has been behind Pietro Travagli in the pecking order, Picone is just happy to be back in the national team.
"In the national team even if you play limited minutes you always have to give everything you've got," Picone said.
"In modern rugby you play with 22 players and the bench players are crucial for a great team.
"Whoever goes in knows that he can change things and increase the rhythm of the game and that is what I tried to do.
"The English team yesterday were struggling at the end."
