WRU teams up with SWALEC in a three-year deal
The Welsh Rugby Union is in line for a £1million windfall after agreeing a new sponsorship deal with SWALEC.
The Cardiff-based energy company has agreed to support community game plus the national Under-20 and Under-18 teams in a new three-year agreement.
That will see the national cup competition will be rebranded as the SWALEC Cup - and will split into cup, bowl and plate winners.
Roger Lewis, the WRU's group chief executive, said: "The WRU is committed to deliver partnerships which help sustain and develop rugby at all levels and throughout the whole of Wales.
"This is a great example of how we are working with a leading company to achieve that aim.
"All of us with a passion for Welsh rugby will recall the days of the SWALEC Cup with fondness and affection. It is great to know those days are now here again."
