Agrentina centre swoops London Irish for the Stoop

Harlequins have swooped to sign Argentina centre Gonzalo Tiesi from their Guinness Premiership rivals London Irish. The 22-year-old, who was a member of the Pumas World Cup squad, initially joined London Irish on trial in February 2006, but he went on to impress with a number of key displays. However the 12 times capped Tiesi has been convinced to join up with Quins for next season. Quins rugby director Dean Richards said: "Gonzalo is a genuine outside centre. "He is a great footballer with a huge amount of pace and skill, and he is an extremely exciting player. I am delighted to have him on board." Tiesi is relishing the chance of a fresh challenge. He said: "I have very much enjoyed my time at London Irish, and feel that I have truly developed as a player. I think that it is time for the next step in my career, and I am excited about the move. "Harlequins have offered me a real opportunity for a new and fresh challenge, and I am looking forward to working with Dean Richards and his team."
